How do mouthguards work?
A mouthguard is a specially made, rubber-like cover which fits exactly over your teeth and gums, cushioning them and protecting them from damage. Unlike shop bought mouthguards where one size fits all, here at Hollins Dental we take an impression in your mouth which creates a model of your teeth and gums thus allowing an individual and accurate fit.

Why do I need this appliance
When the appliance is worn over the lower teeth it prevents your teeth meeting together and therefore helps stop you grinding your teeth when asleep. This reduces jaw clenching and thus helps relieve the pain you have been experiencing in your jaw joints and in your facial muscles. The device can also prevent cracking or fracturing of teeth as a result of tooth clenching and grinding.
